D,E,F Remedies to take the hatchet to the 'lurgy'!

Does the change of season affect you?

Do you or your family get ill with colds/coughs and flu?

I have already written about the ABC remedies in another blog:

Here are 3 other remedies as I go through the alphabet:

DULCAMARA: This remedy is perfect for when summer is beginning to move to autumn/fall, and the days are hot but the evenings and nights are cold. Exposure to wet damp weather or getting wet and cold will affect those who are sensitive to such changes. Colds in particular are brought on this way. Fall/Winter colds come on every year.

Colds: The nose is stuffed up with thick yellow mucous and bloody crusts. The eyes can be affected with a thick, yellow discharge. Strong desire to keep the nose warm by covering it with a scarf/blanket.

Ears: Pain in ears with catarrh, with swelling of glands.

Cough: Rattling, spasmodic cough. Must cough a long time to expel mucous.

Worse: cold, damp, change of weather to cold and wet, night

Better: warmth and moving about.

EUPATORIUM PERFOLIATUM: This is a big flu remedy if the symptoms fit. Bone pains are characteristic of this remedy. The bones feel as if they are broken, with intense aches all over the body. The eyes are achy and sore as well. Restlessness is very marked in this remedy. The patient will feel ‘depressed’.

Head: Throbbing pain, pressing over whole head, sore and bruised. With fever.

Flu: Chills between 7-9am, which can be accompanied by nausea and vomiting AND preceded by intense thirst. Perspiration relieves all symptoms except headache.

Pains: sore and bruised in the bones; the back and extremities.

Thirst: intense

FERRUM PHOS: This is a really useful remedy for the start of a fever, where there are flushed cheeks and a susceptibility for the illness to go into the chest/bronchitis.

Ears: Throbbing with inflammation of ear.

Eyes: red and inflamed, feeling as if sand under the lids.

Cough: tickling and painful, hard dry cough with soreness in chest. Croup.

Chill: daily at 1pm

Worse: night, 4-6am, right side

Better: cold applications
